I’m a writer, I write. But where? <\/h2>

The river was a convenient place to dump trash and factory waste. The only problem was the river flowed into the only freshwater drinking source. So they dug into the land enough the river reversed flow\u2014water wants to go downhill\u2014and the city had clean(ish) drinking water. The trash became someone else\u2019s problem. <\/p>

My adopted hometown of Chicago is \u201cthe city that works,\u201d and the \u201ccity that keeps things moving<\/a>.\u201d Did we do all that stuff in the first paragraph? Yes hell we did.<\/a> Am I saying it\u2019s good or bad? Chicago\u2019s still working. <\/p>

The internet goes through a bunch of messed-up permutations. I grew up with Xanga, AIM, Kazaa, and HomestarRunner. I published evidence of myself getting hammered in college on Facebook. I\u2019ve been doing whatever Twitter<\/a> is since 2011, and will continue until Elon makes that place truly unlivable for all but the most vile, much like the rest of the billionaires want to do with Earth. I write long-form articles<\/a> and short-form lists<\/a>. I\u2019m part of the \u201cthe gentle way to put this is we exist outside of capitalism<\/a>; the honest way to put it is we\u2019re all broke<\/a>\u201d literary community. What I\u2019ve really learned about myself is that I like writing and I like doing it in a setting where my friends and I can be weirdos together. I\u2019m a writer<\/a>, I write<\/a>. Now I\u2019m doing it here.<\/p>

So what\u2019s the job? Are we going on a lake and river cruise or leisurely kayaking while the grill preheats? I\u2019m going to keep these short. There\u2019ll be links to my work and stuff I\u2019m really enjoying\u2014writing is lonely and the nicest thing you can do is boost people, so I\u2019ll boost people. I\u2019ll talk fiction and poetry, movies<\/a>, music<\/a>, food, Chicago stuff<\/a>, basketball<\/a>, and stuff<\/a> I think<\/a> is interesting<\/a>. I\u2019ll try to be entertaining and not take up too much space. Mostly I want to do this: exuberantly share the stuff I think is rad. Until the fascists come for us. <\/p>
