No One Will Save You (2023)
directed by Brian Duffield
Rated PG-13 for some aliens getting their shit wrecked
For fans of sci-fi, any version of Invasion of The Body Snatchers, little grey guys. Happy May the Fourth! I wanted to do a sci-fi horror for this week, and obviously Alien (1979) is the best, but I wanted something a little lesser known and more recent. This one is a little mild, in terms of horror, but there is some great tension and some quality alien violence.
My rating: Gateway Much like Signs, this is a great movie to show people who are interested in horror, but maybe not ready for all of the blood and guts. I think science fiction (and Star Wars specifically) is a lot of folks introduction to genre and it can serve as a stepping stone to the ultimate genre, HORROR. Like I said before, the movie isn’t too scary, but it does have great moments of suspense as our protagonist, Brynn, encounters aliens in her home. As an aside, truly crazy to think that A New Hope and Alien came out two years apart. What wildly different space movies.

Truly crazy that as this is happening, a grey alien is saying “Going up?!” in a Bugs Bunny voice.
Some thoughts: (GONNA SPOIL DA MOVIE A BIT) Okay, right away, there’s only five words of dialogue in the entire movie and man, that shit rocks. The film tells the story of Brynn, a young woman who lives alone and is shunned by her entire community. An alien invasion occurs, she kills some aliens, the townsfolk get taken over by parasites, she kills more aliens, and then the aliens get her. I won’t reveal the ending, but man, it is a very satisfying reveal when you finally discover why the town hates her. It is a simple and strong character arc that informs the entire film and pays off with the bleak, yet happy ending the aliens give her.
